15 days Highlights of Uganda Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe

Upon your arrival in Entebbe, you will be picked up by a company representative and transferred to your hotel at the start of your 15 days highlights of the Uganda Tour. Accommodation at the Hotel No 5

Day 2: Flight to Kidepo National Park 1.5hrs

Head to Airport for the aero link flight to Kidepo National Park departing at 12:30hrs and arriving at 14:45hrs at Apoka Airstrip. You will be picked up by the lodge representative upon arrival. You may have an evening game safari in the park.  Your safari guide will arrive later in the evening. Accommodation and meals at Apoka Lodge.

Day 3: Kidepo National Park Off-the-beaten track tour drive

A full day in one of the most beautiful and certainly most remote national parks in Uganda! Early in the morning, you will explore the Narus River Valley by game safari. Go in search of giraffes, ostriches, zebras, elephants, and lions.

The park is also a birder’s paradise as it boasts a bird list with over 475 species. Have lunch and relax before going on a visit to one of the local Karamojong communities.

Then, delve into the captivating culture of the Karamojong community, renowned for their nomadic lifestyle and captivating storytelling. Immerse yourself in their ancient traditions and tales that echo through generations.

Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park (7 hrs)

“Embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving just in time to savor a delightful lunch amidst the park’s natural splendor. As Uganda’s largest savannah wildlife reserve, Murchison Falls beckons with its untamed beauty and abundant wildlife.

Prepare for an evening filled with adventure as you embark on a savannah game drive through this captivating safari park. Keep your camera ready as you encounter the iconic Rothschild Giraffes, Lions and Elephants among others.

After a thrilling day of exploration, unwind in the comfort of Paara Safari Lodge, where you’ll be treated to exceptional accommodation and mouthwatering meals, ensuring a truly unforgettable experience in the heart of the wild

Day 5: Game safari and Boat cruise to the Bottom of the falls

Start with a sunrise breakfast, setting the stage for an adventure in the savannah. Embark on a captivating wildlife game drive along the northern bank of the Nile River. Look out for the giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeest, and a myriad of bird species in their natural habitat.

Return to the lodge for a leisurely lunch and some well-deserved relaxation amidst the tranquil surroundings.

At 14:00hrs, prepare for a mesmerizing boat cruise along the serene Victoria Nile, towards the awe-inspiring Murchison Falls. Marvel at the sight of the Nile River cascading through a narrow crevice, plummeting 40 meters into a breathtaking gorge below. Along the way, keep an eye out for Nile crocodiles, hippo pods, elegant waterbucks, and a colorful array of birdlife.

As the day concludes, return to the comfort of Paara Safari Lodge, where warm hospitality and delicious meals await, ensuring your day ends on a perfect note of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Day 6: Murchison Falls – Fort Portal (8hrs)

Traverse through quaint traditional homesteads and captivating landscapes, immersing yourself in the beauty of Uganda’s countryside. Though the drive spans nearly 8 hours, each moment is an opportunity to soak in the splendor of your surroundings. Arrive in Fort Portal to unwind in the serene ambiance of the lodge, where every comfort awaits to rejuvenate you after the long journey.

Day 7: Chimp Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Tour

“Following a hearty breakfast, embark on a captivating chimpanzee trekking session nestled within Kibale Forest National Park. This enchanting destination boasts the highest concentration of primates in East Africa, offering a remarkable diversity of wildlife.

Accompanied by an experienced guide, venture into the lush embrace of the tropical rainforest, seeking out the elusive chimpanzees alongside other fascinating inhabitants such as the red-tailed monkeys and the black and white colobus monkeys.

After lunch, we set off on a tranquil excursion through the captivating Bigodi swamp. Day 8: Rwenzori foothills – Queen Elizabeth National Park (4hrs)

Later, head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for a late lunch amidst the wilderness. As the sun begins to set,  embark on an exhilarating evening game drive, where the savannah comes alive with the stirring presence of wildlife.

Alternatively, delve into the heart of community life with an enlightening coffee tour, delving into the intricate process of coffee production and with a mesmerizing cultural dance session, immersing yourself in the vibrant rhythms and traditions of the local heritage.

Day 9: Game drive and Boat cruise along Kazinga Channel

Rise with the sun at 6:30 am for an exciting game adventure in the savannah plains.  Explore Uganda Kobs’ mating grounds on a morning wildlife game drive, spotting lions, elephants, and more. Enjoy a packed breakfast amidst nature’s beauty.

After a hearty lunch back at the lodge, the afternoon promises a tranquil interlude as you set off for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Spend three hours looking out for hippos basking in the sun, Nile crocodiles gliding stealthily through the water, herds of buffaloes wallowing by the banks, and the graceful presence of elephants, all while marveling at the diverse bird species that grace the skies and along the channel.

As the day winds down, return to the Katara Lodge for relaxation. 

Day 10: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Park (6hrs)

After breakfast,  head towards Bwindi National Park via the thrilling Ishasha Sector, famed for its tree-climbing lions. Arriving at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP, the sanctuary of mountain gorillas, just in time for a delicious late lunch and some well-deserved relaxation. Your evening promises an exquisite dinner and a cozy overnight stay at the luxurious Mahogany Springs.”

Day 11: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Gorilla Trekking

Embark on an unforgettable adventure at Bwindi Park, where you’ll join a gorilla tracking expedition led by expert guides. Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before heading to the park offices, where you’ll be paired with a gorilla family from group 8 and a knowledgeable guide.

Before setting out, the park warden will provide a comprehensive briefing on gorilla behavior, safety protocols, and introduce you to your assigned gorilla family. Then, brace yourself for an exhilarating journey through the lush trails of Bwindi.

Be prepared for a trek ranging from 2 to 8 hours, navigating steep and sometimes slippery terrain beneath the canopy of the rainforest. This experience demands a reasonable level of fitness but promises unmatched rewards.

In the heart of the jungle, you’ll encounter these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Witness them as they go about their daily rituals of feeding, playing, and grooming. Day 12: Bwindi Forest – Lake Bunyonyi – Culture on the crest ( 5hrs)

Experience the enchanting beauty of Lake Bunyonyi on a journey filled with discovery and adventure. Arrive just in time for a delightful lunch overlooking the tranquil waters. Afterward, set off on a captivating 5-hour exploration of the Kyabahinga Peninsula.

Your adventure begins with a serene canoe ride across the bay, leading you to the terraced hillsides of Kyabahinga. Pause at a local trading center to sample the renowned local brew before ascending the slopes to meet Omugurusi Jeremiah, a revered traditional healer and herbalist.

As you trek, Jeremiah shares the secrets of the tropical highland flora, weaving colorful tales, legends, and historical insights into the lush landscape. Continue to the ridge, where a skilled crafts maker awaits, eager to demonstrate their artistry. You’re invited to try your hand at crafting amidst the stunning scenery.

Day 13: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo National Park – Cycling  (5hrs)

Breakfast and then we head to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, you will relax at the lodge before having a cycling session in the park, look out for wildlife, like impalas, topis, warthogs, zebras, and buffaloes. Accommodation and meals at Mihingo Lodge

Day 14: Lake Mburo National Park – Nature walk & Boat ride

Today dive into the final chapter of your Uganda safari adventure. Hop on a thrilling savannah wildlife game drive through Lake Mburo National Park’s rugged trails.

Look out for zebras, buffaloes, impalas, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the elusive elands as you navigate the park’s pathways. Afterward, return to the lodge for a relaxing lunch break.

Later, embark on a serene boat ride across the lake, immersing yourself in the vibrant birdlife and catching sight of the cooling hippos. Wind down at Mihingo Lodge, where comfort and delicious meals await to conclude your unforgettable safari journey.

Day 15: Lake Mburo National Park – Entebbe – Departure (6 hrs)

Today head back to Kampala arriving in time for lunch and a refreshment room if your flight is late in the evening.
