Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at Entebbe Airport where you will be welcomed by your private Chimps & Wildlife Luxury Tour and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe. Accommodation and Meals at Hotel No 5.
Day 2: Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park ( 7 hrs drive)
After breakfast, we begin the Chimps & Wildlife Luxury Tour, depart Kampala and head west to Fort Portal. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town, we will continue to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest. Accommodation and Meals at Primate Lodge Kibale Luxury Cottages (B-L-D)
Day 3: Kibale Forest & Crater Lakes
Breakfast and then head to Kibale Forest reputable of having the greatest variety and the highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others. The treks are generally 3-4 hours; expect good sightings of chimps in their natural environment. A maximum of 6 people per group will head out with a forest ranger guide and will be allowed to track chimpanzees.
The chimp tracking will include one hour with members of the wild community of chimpanzees that have been habituated. The walk may also include viewing of other wildlife in the forest under the forest canopy. After lunch, Take a hike at Lake Nkuruba to encounter different species of primates and birds, and visit the Mahoma Falls. On this Chimps & Wildlife Luxury Tour day, meet with the local people as you walk through their villages, learn about the customs of the Batoro tribe and enjoy the panoramic views. Day 4: Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park ( 4 hrs drive)
In the morning transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast. It is a beautiful route via Kasese, with the Rwenzori Mountains on your right side and the green valley on the left. arriving in time for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you will have a Chimps & Wildlife Luxury Tour evening game drive in the park. Accommodation and Meals at Mweya Safari Lodge (B-L-D)
Day 5: Maramagambo Forest and Boat cruise on Kazinga Channel
After breakfast, take a hike into the maramagambo forest, explore some of the stunning crater lakes. Pass through strangler figs, giant screw palms, and look out for some primates along the way:
There is a bat cave, housing thousands of Egyptian fruit bats, brightly coloured lizards and geckos and for those not too squeamish: the possibility of seeing large African rock pythons that come to feed on the bats. There is also a beautiful deep cobalt blue lake in the forest. After lunch, your Chimps & Wildlife Luxury Tour party will head for the scheduled 3 hrs boat ride along the Kazinga channel joining lake Edward and Lake George with excellent wildlife sightings including, multitudes of hippopotamus, Nile crocodiles, wallowing buffaloes on its reedy banks, elephants, multitudes of birds including many endemics as well as hundreds of other plains game that come to it for water. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth Game drive – Entebbe ( 7 hrs drive)
Rise early at 6:00 am and set out for an early morning game drive at the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs. You will search for lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat before returning for breakfast. Later check out and head back to Entebbe with lunch en-route and a stopover at the Uganda Equator for a demonstration of the northern and southern hemisphere water flow. Day 7: Departure – Behind the scenes program UWEC
Depending on the time of your Chimps & Wildlife Luxury Tour flight, you may have a stopover at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. Experience the thrill by going beyond just watching the animals, get to visit the holding facilities or exhibits, food preparation areas, the pharmacy, quarantine facility, workshops, taking part in rescues etc. Behind the scenes program will give you an inside view of what actually takes place in areas out of reach to the public including the animal holding facility, animal hospital and rescue centre and within depth information from an animal keeper, veterinarian /educators. Thereafter heading to the airport for your onward flight back home. B-L
